Arturo José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz Ilisástigui (Pollard's Cove, 17 July 1973), mostly referred to as Arturo Ilisástigui, is an artist who is most famous for his paintings of various areas around the island. Growing up as a true islander, he saw the beauty and ugliness of every little nook and cranny. While his childhood was fairly uneventful, he decided at an early age that it would be his life's work to travel the island and document all these places. His artwork has been graciously donated to the public domain and subsequently used in various publications. This encyclopedia also features a lot of his works.
Ilisástigui was born at 23:15 on 17 July 1973, in the city of Pollard's Cove, East Bushington. He was the first child of Don José Ilisástigui and María López López López. His family was of middle-class background. His father was a painter who specialized in naturalistic depictions of birds and other game. For most of his life, he was a professor of art at the School of Crafts and a curator of a local museum. His ancestors were minor aristocrats.
During his childhood, Arturo did the typical things you would do as a child. Torching ants with his magnifying glass and drawing pictures of squares to subsequently sell them as pictures of triangles on the town square. This initial artistical hustle is what probably sent him down the path of becoming an artist himself. Arturo tried studying the arts on the island but quickly found out that such studies were not available. He decided to become self-taught and started traveling the island at the age of 9. By working in all different parts of the island he managed to get enough cash to buy art supplies. Notable jobs include that of cow scraper at Wagyu Cliffs and mining for protactinium.
During his travels, Arturo's art caught the eye of billionaire playboy Olivier LeDéfoncé. By providing Arturo with a job to do a few commissioned paintings his art managed to reach a broader audience. The pay was relatively bad, even though Olivier eventually managed to bank millions from it. That's what typically happens when smaller artists get taken advantage of though. Regardless, Arturo had now made somewhat of a name for himself and slowly saw an increase in commissions. However, his humble personality couldn't handle the sudden fame. Arturo resorted to recreational drug usage and almost overdosed from a single weed gummy. After this harrowing experience, he decided to step out of the limelight and retreated to his cabin in the mountains at Hermit's Rest.
Arturo has had 4 different wives and upwards of 19 children. Most of these came from an unfaithful bad trip from a single weed gummy that almost killed him. As of right now, he has no relationship and as far as we know he also doesn't stay in contact with any of his children. Some of the more recent paintings he has done, while being secluded at Hermit's Rest, have focused heavily on mountain marmots, dressed up in all kinds of sexy outfits. The deeper meaning of these paintings is unknown.
